Loaf Face Cooks up a Storm

in the Dragon’s Den

The newly established Loaf Face Cookery Co-operative scooped £2000 in prize money in Formartine’s Dragon’s Den Competition on September 13th 2007.  The team of four women- Elaine Adam, Morag MacLeod, Tracy Coxon and Kerrin Angel-Irvine from Collieston, Slains and Cruden Bay were delighted with the award of both prizes, designed to encourage innovation and enterprise in our locality.

Loaf Face officially launched their new venture on Collieston Gala Day and, since then, they have been trading every Saturday morning at Ellon’s Weekly Farmer’s Market.  They make breads, cakes, biscuits and jams, to both traditional and quirky recipes, from Bridie’s tea breads to spicy courgette loafies.  The team are committed to sourcing their ingredients as locally as possible, using Jim Shewan’s Ellon honey, and to supporting fair trade, with their fruit and chocolate purchases.  They are also keen to minimise their impact on the environment through composting their organic waste.  The women are to use their prize money to invest in biodegradable and recyclable packaging and a colour laser printer.

If you wish to ‘use your loaf’ to place an order, you can contact Loaf Face on 07954 002922 or email enquiries@loafface.coop.
